Meet the Pleasant Valley Horse Club instructors, including owner Michelle LeClair. Read about their experience, and what they love about working at Pleasant Valley Horse Club.

Meet Michelle LeClairMichelle

Michelle LeClair, Pleasant Valley Horse Club Owner and Instructor, has been riding horses for 35 years. Her riding career began when she was five years old. At eight Michelle participated in 4H. Later, as a teenager she became interested and competed in Western Trail, English Hunter Jumper, and Equitation. By nineteen Michelle had progressed to a pick for the U.S. team in the 1984 Olympics. Add to that barrel racing in rodeos, working on a cattle ranch, sorting, and team penning. Just before opening Pleasant Valley Horse Club, Michelle became a school teacher. Now Michelle brings her passions and talent together into one business containing two primary ingredients: a love of horses and horsemanship, and a love for children and their learning process.

Michelle spends time with the parent of one of her students (below). Michelle

Meet Lucas

At 15 Lucas had already won the AA California State Championships for Barrel Racing in 2005. He has been riding from the time he was "around four" and was raised with horses his whole long life. Lucas says he loves to jump his Lucashorse Patch, barrel race with Oscar, and work cows on his new yellow mare, shown here. Hmm, should we call her Butterscotch or Honey?

Lucas lives on the ranch with Michelle, his mom, and is both an instructor and a primary member of the Leadership Team.

Meet Shannon

Shannon

Shannon began her equestrian experience trading work on a ranch for riding lessons. She moved her way up the ladder to groom and then to camp youth instructor. She has worked with a variety of people, including mentally challenged students. Currently Shannon is learning about Natural Horsemanship and working with our rescue horses. She is also the camp lead and instructs our beginning riders. Shannon also attends UCSC where she is studying to become a physical therapist. We like Shannon because she has a lovely demeanor and a world of patience.
